I too have become yet another victim of Sportstech Germany’s SHOCKING customer service, and like many others who have submitted reviews here, I wish there was an option for ZERO stars.
I purchased a F75 Treadmill from their website (which pretends to look like a UK-based one at sports-tech.uk.com) on 13th Jan 2022 for £2,048. It then took 2 weeks for it to be shipped from Germany, another week to arrive in the UK and then actually got to my home address on 11th Feb 2022. I then found that the assembly instructions provided with the unit were shockingly inadequate (had to find a YouTube video to see how it actually went together!). The unit then failed on 5th April 2022 – no boot-up sequence, no response from the console or buttons on the control panel – all after less than 50 hours of actual usage.
Since the unit failed I have logged a call with Customer Service for my warranty claim, which has resulted in a painful and extended to-and-fro email conversation with the CS rep requesting me to take various videos of the fault (a blank screen is a pretty boring watch!) and various troubleshooting activities including removing the cover from the motor to investigate the status of LED lights on the main PCB, something that I consider to be potentially dangerous to the general public. At no point has a Technical person been allocated to the problem, which has meant that I have had to deal with a CS rep acting as a go-between. I have even been copying in the CEO of Sportstech (Ali Ahmad), but no response from him either – not a surprise as I suspect he is busy trying to stop his company going under! Basically, they are selling these pieces of equipment into countries outside of Germany with NO support model in place and any issues with the kit failing are just not being dealt with properly.
I have also now been informed by the CS rep that a refund of the purchase price will not be possible due to the fact that the “14 days has expired since I received the item”, so I have now also contacted my credit card company requesting that they process a ‘chargeback’ against the item due to the fact that it is not fit for purpose. I am still awaiting their initial response on this.
I have also made Trustpilot aware that there are LOADS of negative (mainly 1-star) reviews have been placed on their site against the WRONG ‘Sportstech’ entry on their site, which is hiding the fact of how atrocious the German Sportstech company actually is. If you don’t believe me, check out all of the BAD reviews against the company listed as ‘Sports Technology’ based in the UK (sportstech.uk.com) – these are virtually ALL related to the poor customer service and quality of support from the German-based company (sportstech.de). I have already alerted the UK company Sports Technology to this fact and also reported the issue to Trustpilot – not sure what effect that will have, but I would urge you that if you are thinking of ordering ANYTHING from Sportstech DE and you are NOT actually based in Germany, JUST DON’T!!!
